🙋 Common questions
How much does the Rhône Valley and Luberon cycling tour cost?
This 7-day self-guided loop from Avignon starts from €1,268 per person in a double room from April to mid-June and from mid-September to October, and from €1,370 between 15 June and 15 September. The price includes 6 nights with breakfast, luggage transfer, a travel book with maps, a GPS navigation app and a 7/7 hotline. Bike rental is available at an extra cost.
When can I do this tour, and when do the lavender fields bloom?
The tour runs from 10 April to 10 October, with arrivals on any day of the week. The lavender usually blooms from early June to late July, mainly around Sault, on the optional Mont Ventoux route.
How difficult is this Provence cycling tour?
The tour is rated easy. You will ride five days, between 35 and 55 km a day on the standard routes, for about 210 km and 970 m of climbing in total. The Luberon loop on day 5 can be shortened or extended. E-bikes are available for riders who want extra assistance.
Can I cycle down Mont Ventoux?
Yes. On day 4, weather permitting, a transfer with your bikes to the summit of Mont Ventoux can be arranged at an extra cost, followed by a long descent through the lavender country around Sault. The standard route stays at the foot of the mountain through the Côtes du Rhône vineyards.
What accommodation is included?
You will stay six nights with breakfast in 3- and 4-star hotels and one simpler 2-star hotel in Orange, including two nights in a 4-star hotel in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. No dinners are included.
How does luggage transfer work?
Your luggage is moved to the next hotel on every cycling day, so you only ride with what you need for the day. The allowance is one bag per person of up to 23 kg; additional bags can be transferred for an extra fee.
Which bikes can I rent?
You can rent a touring bike, an e-bike or a gravel bike. Rental bikes come with a lock, a repair kit, a rear bag, a handlebar bag and a smartphone holder (one for every two bikes), with a helmet on request. Riders are expected to handle simple repairs such as a puncture on their own. A small delivery fee applies if only one bike is rented.
Can I do this tour alone?
Yes, solo travellers are welcome. A solo supplement applies and covers a single room throughout the route. The 7/7 hotline is available during the day if you need help.
