🙋 Common questions
How difficult is cycling on the Lycian coast?
This tour covers 27 to 49 km per cycling day with 300 to 900 metres of climbing, on mountain roads with ascents of up to around 400 metres. It is one of the more demanding boat and bike routes and asks for confident handling on steep hairpin descents. Rental e-bikes make the climbs manageable, and a support vehicle follows every stage.
When is the best time to cycle in Turkey on the Lycian coast?
Departures run from April to October, skipping the hottest weeks of high summer. Spring brings green hillsides and comfortable riding temperatures, while September and October are warm, quiet and still good for swimming. Live departure dates are shown on this page under Availability.
How much does a boat and bike tour on the Lycian coast cost?
Prices start from €1,949 per person and vary by departure date and cabin, with live availability shown on this page. The price covers seven nights on board in a twin cabin with shower and toilet, half board, an English-speaking guide, group entrance fees to the sites on the route and a support vehicle. Bike rental is extra.
Is this tour guided or self-guided?
It is fully guided. Tour guides ride with the group every day and lead the visits to the archaeological sites, and the tours are conducted bilingually in English and German. By arrangement with the guides you can ride a recommended route on your own, or skip a stage and spend the day swimming on board.
Where do you sleep on a boat and bike tour in Turkey?
You sleep on board the Admiral, a three-masted gulet with climate-controlled cabins, in a twin cabin below deck with private shower and toilet. Bed linen and towels are provided and the cabin is cleaned daily. The boat moves while you cycle or overnight, so you unpack once and still wake up somewhere new.
Do I need to bring my own bicycle?
No. Gravel bikes are rented on board at €240 per week and e-bikes at €252 per week, and e-bike availability is guaranteed on this programme. Helmets are compulsory on every ride, so bring your own well-fitted helmet if you can: the number of rental helmets on board is limited and must be reserved in advance.
Can children join this cycling tour in Turkey?
Children from the age of 10 can take part, provided they are in good physical condition, have already ridden multi-day bike tours and are at least 1.50 m tall for the bikes carried on board. The stages are demanding, so this suits confident young cyclists rather than younger children.
Is there Wi-Fi on board?
No, the boat used on this tour does not have a Wi-Fi connection. Free Wi-Fi is widely available in cafés and bars in the harbour towns where the boat moors, so you can get online whenever you go ashore.
