Short Description

This is the Loire Valley at its most refined — a cycling journey through the heartland of French Renaissance art, set against a backdrop of vineyards, orchards, and some of the most celebrated châteaux in the world. Every evening, you will retire to a sumptuous 4-star or 5-star château-hotel where history, elegance, and modern comfort blend seamlessly. Your ride will begin and end in Amboise, the royal town where Leonardo da Vinci spent his final years. From here, you will follow the Loire à Vélo and Indre à Vélo cycling paths through the vineyards of Montlouis, the vibrant half-timbered squares of Tours, and the winding banks of the Indre river to the romantic Château d'Azay-le-Rideau, floating on its mirror of water and greenery. The route will carry you past Chenonceau — the iconic château spanning the Cher river — through the medieval village of Montrichard, and into the mysterious forests of the Sologne, where the colossal Château de Chambord rises with its 440 rooms and legendary double-helix staircase. A gourmet lunch at the foot of Chambord and two days of spa access at the Château d'Artigny are woven into the journey. With gentle daily distances of 40 to 55 kilometres on flat to rolling terrain, this tour is designed for those who want to savour every pedal stroke, every glass of Vouvray, and every golden hour spent in a château garden.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Amboise
You will arrive in the royal town of Amboise, built at the edge of the Loire River and overlooked by its Royal Château where the most important kings of France lived. A visit to the Manoir du Clos Lucé, where Leonardo da Vinci spent the last three years of his life, is not to be missed.
Included: a welcome bottle of local wine in your room.
Accommodation at Manoir St Thomas (4\* hotel, superior room).

Day 2: Amboise – Montbazon (45 km; +260 m)
You will follow the Loire à Vélo cycling paths through the vineyards of Montlouis and its famous wine cellars producing sweet and sparkling white wines. In Tours, you will linger in the vibrant old quarters and the beautiful Place Plumereau with its half-timbered houses, before riding through the Touraine countryside to your château-hotel.
Accommodation at Château d'Artigny (5\* hotel, room in the château).

Day 3: Excursion to Azay-le-Rideau (55 km; +340 m)
You will ride along the Indre à Vélo cycling paths, following the winding Indre river past beautiful mills and typical villages, before reaching Azay-le-Rideau and its romantic Renaissance château, elegantly enclosed in its water and greenery setting.
Included: SPA access for 2 days.
Accommodation at Château d'Artigny (5\* hotel, room in the château).

Day 4: Montbazon – Chenonceaux (40 km; +230 m)
You will ride along the tortuous Indre river to reach the Cher Valley, crossing vineyards and typical small Touraine villages. Then you will discover Chenonceaux, famous for its Renaissance château spanning the Cher river, still steeped in memories of Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Médicis.
Option: canoe trip on the Cher river.
Accommodation at Le Bon Laboureur (5\* hotel, privilege room).

Day 5: Chenonceaux – Cheverny (48 km; +280 m)
You will leave Chenonceaux and ride to the medieval village of Montrichard, then through the vineyards of Touraine past the Château du Gué-Péan and the medieval Château de Fougères-sur-Bièvre, a perfect illustration of 15th-century building art. A beautiful route through countryside and vineyards will lead you to the famous Château de Cheverny.
Accommodation at Les Sources de Cheverny (5\* hotel, superior room).

Day 6: Excursion to Chambord (50 km; +230 m)
You will ride through the rich and mysterious Sologne, with its magnificent forests, game-filled ponds, and small private châteaux hidden behind vineyards. After a stop at the Château de Villesavin, you will continue through the Domaine de Chambord forest to visit the most famous and majestic château in the Loire Valley — with its 440 rooms and legendary Renaissance splendour.
Included: gourmet lunch at the foot of the Château de Chambord.
Accommodation at Les Sources de Cheverny (5\* hotel, superior room).

Day 7: Cheverny – Amboise (45 km; +280 m)
