Loire Castles Superior Cycling Stay

Day 1: Chitenay – Cheverny – Chitenay (23 km; +75 m)
You will set out from your charming auberge in the peaceful village of Chitenay and ride through gentle countryside to the Château de Troussay, a small Renaissance gem. Your route will continue to the Château de Cheverny, famous for its sumptuously furnished apartments and the inspiration behind Hergé's Marlinspike Hall in the adventures of Tintin.

Day 2: Chitenay – Chambord – Chitenay (56 km; +340 m)
You will cycle through the rich forest of the Domaine de Chambord to reach the most famous and majestic château in the Loire Valley. With 440 rooms and its iconic double-helix staircase, Chambord is Renaissance architecture at its most ambitious. Along the return route, a wine tasting at a local producer in the Cheverny appellation will complete the day.

Day 3: Chitenay – Blois – Chitenay (35 km; +180 m)
You will ride through the forest to the banks of the Loire and the handsome town of Blois. The royal château offers a brilliant illustration of the evolution of French architecture from the Middle Ages to the 17th century, and the old quarter is a pleasure to wander on foot.

Day 4: Chitenay – Chaumont-sur-Loire (38 km; +210 m) + Departure
Your final ride will follow countryside routes to the Loire at Chaumont-sur-Loire, where the 15th-century château overlooks the river. Between late May and mid-October, the extraordinary Festival des Jardins transforms the park into an open-air gallery of contemporary garden art. Departure at the end of the excursion.
