What is the difficulty level of this tour?
This is a moderate cycling tour covering 169 km over three riding days, with daily distances between 50 and 65 km. The terrain follows well-maintained cycle paths along the Altmühl River valley with gentle gradients, making it suitable for recreational cyclists with a reasonable level of fitness.
What type of accommodation is provided?
You will stay in comfortable 3-star hotels and inns throughout the tour. All four overnight stays include a generous breakfast buffet or an extended breakfast spread. Half board is not available on this route.
How does luggage transfer work?
Your luggage is collected from your hotel each morning by 9:00 a.m. and delivered to your next accommodation by approximately 6:30 p.m. Each piece of luggage is covered up to €1,000 per person. Simply leave your bags at reception before you set off.
How do I get back to Rothenburg at the end?
Two return options are available. A bus transfer runs every Saturday throughout the season and additionally on Fridays in June and September (€45 per person, requires an extra night in Eichstätt). Alternatively, you can take regional trains on any day from approximately 9:43 a.m., arriving in Rothenburg around 11:51 a.m. with 2–3 changes (€25 per person).
Can I rent a bike for this tour?
Yes, trekking bikes are available for €90 per stay. E-bikes are available on request for €200 per stay. Rental bikes are delivered to your first hotel and collected at the last. If you book extra nights, the rental bike remains available throughout your entire stay.
