🙋 Common questions
How difficult is cycling in the Greek Sporades?
This tour is rated level 4 of 5: hilly to mountainous terrain with climbs of up to roughly 400 metres and between 300 and 750 metres of ascent per day. Daily stages run from 8 to 40 km. Everyone rides an e-bike, which makes the gradients manageable, but confident handling on winding descents, uneven asphalt and occasional gravel is expected.
When is the best time to cycle in the Sporades?
Departures run through the Greek sailing season, from spring to autumn. May, June, September and early October bring warm but comfortable temperatures, calmer seas for the crossings and water that is already or still good for swimming. High summer is hotter and busier ashore, which is felt most on the longer climbs of Skopelos and Pelion.
How much does a boat and bike tour in Greece cost?
Prices depend on the departure date and the cabin, and are shown live on this page under Availability. The price covers seven nights on board, two days of full board and five of half board, all guided rides, entrance fees to the museums and sites visited as a group, and an English-speaking guide. A rental e-bike costs €273 per week.
Is this Greek island tour guided or self-guided?
It is a guided group tour. English-speaking guides lead every ride and all tours are conducted in English because the groups are international. By agreement with your guides you can also ride recommended routes on your own, or skip a stage entirely and spend the day swimming or on board.
Where do you sleep on a boat and bike tour in Greece?
You sleep on board a motorised yacht, in a twin cabin below deck with its own shower and toilet. Bed linen and towels are provided and a chef in the crew prepares breakfast and one or two warm meals a day. The ship takes a maximum of fourteen guests and moves while you cycle, so you unpack once.
Do I need to bring my own bike to Greece?
No. The tour is built around rental e-bikes, which cost €273 per week including an Ortlieb pannier. Helmets are compulsory on every ride: bring your own well-fitted helmet if you can, because the number of rental helmets on board is limited and has to be reserved in advance.
Can children join this cycling tour in Greece?
The minimum age is 10, and only for children who are fit and have already done bike touring. A rental e-bike requires a minimum height of 1.50 m. Children up to the age of 16 receive a €200 reduction on the basic tour price in a double cabin. For younger families the operator's multi-adventure tours are a better fit.
Which Mamma Mia filming locations does this tour visit?
Skopelos, Skiathos and the Pelion peninsula all served as locations for the film. On Skopelos an optional detour on Day 4 takes you to the cliff chapel where Sophie and Sky were married, and the Pelion stage rides through the same coastal scenery used in the production.
