🙋 Common questions
How much does the Bruges to Amsterdam bike and barge tour cost?
Boat Bike Tours lists this Relax tour from €2,099 per person, the lowest departure price shown for the 2027 season. The Bruges-to-Amsterdam weeks range from about €2,099 to €2,499 per person depending on the ship and the date. Bicycle rental, drinks, entrance fees and tourist taxes are charged separately on top.
When is the best season to cycle from Bruges to Amsterdam?
Bruges departures run from late May into October and any week in that window suits this flat route. Late spring brings green Flemish fields and long evenings, midsummer is warmest and liveliest in Antwerp and Ghent, and the October week offers golden light over the Zeeland delta and very quiet cycle paths.
How difficult is the cycling between Bruges and Amsterdam?
Boat Bike Tours rates this tour difficulty level 1, the gentlest grade it offers. Flanders and the Netherlands are flat, daily distances are moderate, and a tour leader cycles with the group each day. Coastal wind on the open dikes of Zeeland can add effort, and e-bikes can be rented for the week.
How does the Bruges–Amsterdam route differ from the Amsterdam–Bruges one?
It is a genuinely different programme, not the same days in reverse. Starting in Bruges you spend the first two nights there and ride the North Sea polder loop on day two, then work north-east to finish in Amsterdam, covering roughly 284 km. The Amsterdam start covers roughly 290 km and ends in Bruges instead.
Which ships sail the Bruges to Amsterdam route?
The same four barges serve both directions. La Mar and Flora each carry a maximum of 24 passengers, in twelve and eleven cabins; Fleur and Gandalf each carry a maximum of 20 passengers in ten cabins. La Mar and Fleur are premium class, Flora and Gandalf comfort class. The ship depends on your departure date.
How many kilometres will I cycle between Bruges and Amsterdam?
Taking the shorter option on every stage, the Bruges to Amsterdam direction adds up to roughly 284 km across eleven days, including the eleven-kilometre test ride on embarkation day and the thirty-eight-kilometre loop from Bruges to the North Sea. Longer variants are offered on seven days for anyone wanting more saddle time.
Is a bicycle included on the Bruges to Amsterdam tour?
No. Bicycle and e-bike rental are charged separately by Boat Bike Tours and are added at booking. The rental bikes are unisex, with a low frame, upright riding position, responsive hand brakes and at least seven gears. Fleur carries e-bikes only. Bringing your own bicycle on board is also possible.
Where does the tour start and finish in Bruges and Amsterdam?
This direction boards in Bruges harbour, with check-in between 1 and 2 p.m. and a crew briefing at 2 p.m. Eleven days later the barge moors in Amsterdam harbour and you disembark before 9.30 a.m. Transfers to and from the mooring places are not included in the price of the tour.
