What is the difficulty level of this tour?
The tour is rated moderate. While daily distances are short at 25 to 52 kilometres, the terrain in Périgord Noir is hilly with significant elevation changes. Day 5 to Rocamadour involves 750 metres of climbing over 42 kilometres. The tour suits cyclists with moderate fitness who enjoy varied terrain.
What type of accommodation is provided?
You will stay in 3-star hotels throughout the tour. All rooms have private bathrooms. Breakfast is included every morning. Dinners are not included, giving you the freedom to discover the exceptional gastronomy of Périgord Noir — foie gras, truffles, duck confit and walnut specialities.
Can I visit the Caves of Lascaux?
Yes, on Day 3 you can choose the longer route via the Caves of Lascaux. You can visit either Lascaux II or Lascaux IV depending on your preference. Entry tickets should be booked in advance, especially during peak season from June to September.
Is luggage transfer included?
Yes, your luggage is transferred between accommodations on every cycling day. Each rental bike is equipped with a rear bag and handlebar bag for your daily essentials.
How do I get to Sarlat and from Souillac?
Brive-Vallée de la Dordogne airport is approximately 60 kilometres from Sarlat and 30 kilometres from Souillac, with flights to several European cities. Both towns are accessible by train. A transfer from Souillac back to Sarlat can be arranged for an additional fee.
