🙋 Common questions
How difficult is cycling from Amsterdam to Bruges?
This tour covers between 21 and 56 km on cycling days, on flat terrain typical of Holland and Flanders. Most days offer a shorter and a longer option, so you can adjust the effort day by day. Two tour leaders lead two separate groups at different paces. E-bikes are available for rent.
When is the best time to cycle between Holland and Flanders?
The season runs from spring to autumn. April and May bring tulips and mild temperatures, while September and October are quiet and warm-toned. Midsummer is the busiest period in Bruges and Ghent, so shoulder-season departures are calmer both on the bike and in the cities.
How much does a boat and bike tour from Amsterdam to Bruges cost?
Prices vary by departure date, ship and cabin type, and are shown live on this page under Availability. The price includes seven nights on board with breakfast, packed lunches, six three-course dinners, two tour leaders and the guided canal tour in Ghent. Bike rental costs €140 per week and an e-bike €273 per week.
Is this tour guided or self-guided?
It is fully guided. Two tour leaders accompany two separate groups, so cyclists of different speeds can ride comfortably. Some short walking tours are also included, and daily briefings on board explain the route ahead.
Where do you sleep on a boat and bike tour?
You sleep on board in a climate-controlled cabin, with bed linen and towels provided and daily cabin cleaning. The ship moves while you cycle or during the night, so you unpack once for the whole week and still change destination every day.
Do I need to bring my own bicycle?
No. A premium hybrid bicycle can be rented for €140 per week and a premium e-bike for €273 per week; e-bike numbers are limited, so reserving at the time of booking is recommended. If you prefer your own bike, parking on board costs €14 per week, or €28 with a charging point for an e-bike.
How do I get back from Bruges to Amsterdam?
There is a good train connection between the two cities. Timetables and tickets can be found on the usual European rail booking sites. The return journey is not included in the tour price.
Can the tour run in the opposite direction?
Yes. The same route is also operated from Bruges to Amsterdam, with the stages reversed. Departure dates for each direction are shown under Availability.
