Short Description

A 9-day cycling tour from the Elbe's mountain source to Prague covering 310 km through Bohemian forests, spa towns, and river valleys. Available self-guided or with a guide. From €845 per person.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Prague
After you arrive and check in, the day will be yours to explore Prague, relax, or join an optional Prague-by-bike tour guided by Prague natives, ending with a mug of beer in a carefully chosen place.

Day 2: Transfer to Špindlerův Mlýn (0 km)
Your adventure begins with a transfer from Prague to Špindlerův Mlýn, deep in the Krkonoše National Park. In the afternoon, you will have the chance to walk or cycle to the very spring of the Elbe — a quiet, almost sacred spot where one of Europe's great rivers begins its life. The panorama of Sněžka (1,604 m), the highest peak in the Czech Republic, unfolds before you, while the valley of the young Elbe brook stretches below the surrounding ridges. The transfer included in the tour price departs from Prague every Sunday at 9 am (May–September).

Day 3: Špindlerův Mlýn (0–30 km)
This day is yours to explore. You will wander through the mountain landscape at your own pace — perhaps cycling to the Elbe spring, discovering the cascading Pančava Falls, or embarking on a longer expedition to conquer Sněžka itself. The Giant Mountains reward those who take their time, and this free day is your invitation to do exactly that.

Day 4: Špindlerův Mlýn – Dvůr Králové (47 km)
You will take the cableway up in the morning, then follow mountain crests before plunging down a two-kilometre descent to Vrchlabí, the so-called Gate of the Giant Mountains. Here you will find the Krkonoše National Park Museum, an Augustinian monastery, and a striking neo-Renaissance chateau. From Vrchlabí, you will follow the growing river to Hostinné, where giant statues guard an elegant town hall. The fairy-tale dam of Lesní Království will enchant you along the way. Your day ends in Dvůr Králové, a royal city with a beautiful historical square and the Safari Park — home to the largest collection of African animals in Europe.

Day 5: Dvůr Králové – Hradec Králové – Pardubice (69 km)
You will leave the mountains behind and ride into the open lowlands of Polabí. Your first stop is Kuks, one of the finest Baroque complexes in the Czech Republic, where the statues of Matthias Bernard Braun stand in a landscape of quiet grandeur above the river. You will then pass through Jaroměř and the imposing Josefov fortress, whose walls were never conquered. Hradec Králové awaits — a city where medieval streets coexist with bold early-twentieth-century architecture. The day ends in Pardubice, a Renaissance jewel built by the lords of Kunštát, with the dramatic silhouette of Kunětická Hora castle rising over the flat countryside nearby.

Day 6: Pardubice – Kutná Hora (59 km)
You will cycle through flat terrain alongside the ever-widening Elbe until you reach the Kladruby stud farm, a UNESCO-protected estate where horses have been bred since the sixteenth century. There will be opportunities to swim and relax in the Bunkov area before you divert from the river towards Kutná Hora — one of medieval Europe's most powerful cities. Along the way, you will visit the elegant classicist chateau of Kačina and the extraordinary ossuary at Sedlec, containing the remains of more than 30,000 people.

Day 7: Kutná Hora – Nymburk (42 km)
After exploring Kutná Hora, you will cross one of the few hills on the entire route and descend to Kolín — an important city of Central Bohemia, home to a Jewish synagogue, a Gothic church, and a panoramic lookout. From there, newly built cycling paths will carry you to Poděbrady, a graceful spa town where you will stroll along the colonnade and taste the local healing springs. The day concludes in Nymburk, a town encircled by remarkably preserved medieval battlements.

Day 8: Nymburk – Prague (63 km)
The final riding day offers you a choice of routes. You will decide at Nymburk which bank of the Elbe to follow: the right bank takes you through open countryside with sweeping river views on unpaved paths, while the left bank leads you along minor roads past rare sand dunes and an open-air museum of folk architecture. Both routes converge near Lysá nad Labem, where you can visit a splendid chateau and park — or simply board a train for a quick ride into the heart of Prague. Your journey ends in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Day 9: Prague
Your tour concludes after breakfast. The entire day is yours to explore Prague — its castles, bridges, winding lanes, and centuries of layered history. Additional accommodation, cycling tours, or guided city walks can be arranged upon request.
