Short Description

A 6-day family cycling tour along the Danube from Passau covering 75 km on flat, car-free cycle paths. Short daily rides perfect for children — one of Europe's easiest family cycling routes. From €488 per person.

Tour Program

Day 1: Passau (Arrival)
You will arrive individually in Passau and settle into your hotel, where travel documents and rental bikes will be waiting. The rest of the day is free to explore the Three Rivers City at your leisure. Ships anchored at the pier will fascinate young and old alike, and the powerful-voiced church organ in Passau Cathedral is an experience the whole family will remember.

Day 2: Passau – Niederranna (15 km + boat trip)
You will board a Danube ship with your bikes and cruise to the starting point of the first cycling stage. After just a few kilometres, the Danube mermaid Isa appears on the riverbank to greet passing cyclists. The water adventure world Haus am Strom in Engelhartszell is a perfect family stop before reaching your hotel by the river.

Day 3: Niederranna – Obermühl (20 km)
You will soon reach the Schlögener Schlinge, where the Danube has carved its way through hard granite rock in a dramatic S-loop over thousands of years. Wooded ridges line the landscape, with castles and ruins standing guard on the flanks above. A short hike to the Schlögener Blick viewpoint rewards you with a sweeping panorama of the bend.

Day 4: Obermühl – Aschach (20 km)
As you leave the Upper Danube Valley behind, the fertile Eferding Basin will spread out before you. Vegetable and fruit cultivation areas line the cycle path — look out for the spicy pickles and fresh asparagus specialties that this region is known for. The ruins of Schaunberg will transport the children back to the age of knights.

Day 5: Aschach – Linz (20 km + train ride)
You will cycle comfortably along the south bank of the Danube to the power station in Ottensheim, crossing the river there. From Ottensheim, a train will carry you and your bikes onward to Linz. The afternoon belongs to the fairytale world of the Grottenbahn on the Pöstlingberg — a miniature railway through enchanted grottos that children absolutely love.

Day 6: Return to Passau (Departure)
After breakfast, you will return to Passau by train (included). From here, you will continue your onward journey home.
