Short Description

The GT20 Challenge is Corsica on its most demanding and rewarding terms — the complete Grande Traversée from Bastia to Bonifacio by road bike, six days of sustained climbing through mountain passes, coastal cliffs and ancient forests that will test your legs and thrill your senses in equal measure. This is not a tour for the faint of heart: nearly 600 kilometres and over 11000 metres of elevation gain across some of the most spectacular roads in the Mediterranean. You will ride the wild coastline of Cap Corse, cross the Désert des Agriates, weave through the perched villages of Balagne, traverse the majestic Aïtone forest and the Vergio Pass, conquer the Verde and Vaccia passes through the mountainous interior, and finish with a triumphant arrival in Bonifacio — the fortress city on white cliffs overlooking Sardinia. With daily stages averaging nearly 100 km and serious mountain passes every day, this is the ultimate Corsican cycling challenge for experienced road cyclists.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Bastia
You will arrive in Bastia and settle into your hotel. Explore the superb old port, the citadel and the panoramic old town — fuel up for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Bastia – Saint-Florent (113 km; +1500 m / −1500 m)
A grand opening stage. You will ride north along the Cap Corse coastline to Macinaggio, then climb the Serra Pass at 366 metres past the famous Mattei windmill. The western balcony road winds through dramatic villages before a long descent into the picturesque harbour of Saint-Florent.

Day 3: Saint-Florent – Calvi (110 km; +1450 m / −1450 m)
You will cross the wild Agriates to the Vezzu Pass, then climb through the fragrant maquis to the Croce and San Colombano passes. The Balagne region unfolds with its charming hilltop villages — Belgodère, Feliceto, Muro, Cateri — before the final descent to Calvi and its magnificent citadel.

Day 4: Calvi – Porto (85 km; +1900 m / −1400 m)
You will follow the rugged coast past La Revellata, through the wild Fango Valley and up to the Palmarella Pass with sweeping views over the Gulf of Girolata and the Scandola Nature Reserve. The descent into Porto is breathtaking.

Day 5: Porto – Corte (83 km; +2895 m / −2493 m)
The mountain queen stage. You will climb through Évisa and the Aïtone forest to the Vergio Pass, cross the remote Niolu region past Lake Calacuccia, then descend through the Scala di Santa Regina gorge to Corte, the island's historic mountain capital.

Day 6: Corte – Zicavo (80 km; +1947 m / −1686 m)
You will ride through chestnut forests and over the famous Verde Pass at 1289 metres before descending into the wild Haut Taravo valley. Zicavo awaits with its mountain character, flowing water and included dinner.

Day 7: Zicavo – Bonifacio (115 km; +1450 m / −2600 m)
The grand finale. You will conquer the Col de la Vaccia, ride through the villages of the Alta Rocca, cross the Bacino Pass and then enjoy a long, exhilarating descent to the coast and onward to Bonifacio — the fortress on white cliffs gazing across to Sardinia. GT20 complete.

Day 8: Departure from Bonifacio
