Bicycles will be the transportation of the future: it has been discussed for years now, and numerous European cities have adapted with services and infrastructure that make life easier for cyclists.
This makes the choice of these cities as destinations for family vacations particularly easy and fun. Visiting a bike friendly city means being able to move freely in a sustainable way, without having to risk traffic and complex or dangerous routes.
There are more and more bike friendly cities in Europe that have become real destinations for families traveling by bike. If you're looking for inspiration for your bike vacations with children, here are the cities not to miss!
It is known worldwide for being the city of bicycles and just visiting once to understand why. In Amsterdam, bikes are not just a means of transportation, but part of the local culture.
This is true for all of the Netherlands: just spend a few hours in Utrecht or Rotterdam to see for yourself.

Amsterdam is a destination that is becoming increasingly family friendly, with its 400 km of bike routes and its attractions such as the Van Gogh museum, the canal cruise, the tour of Ajax's soccer stadium, in addition to the must-see windmills.
The Netherlands by bike will make you fall in love, we are sure!
After Amsterdam, the second city of bikes in Europe is definitely Copenhagen, which has designed the urban fabric based on the flow of cyclists.
The routes are well marked and drivers generally have a lot of respect for cyclists. Visiting Copenhagen by bike is really enjoyable, especially during the long summer days!
Also in this case, a tour of the canals, a trip to Tivoli Gardens and the fairytale Rosenborg Castle are not to be missed.
Visiting Berlin by bike can be the most effective way to make children fall in love with the German capital. Perfectly organized with its bike paths, Berlin has become a full-fledged bike friendly city with about 160 km of bike routes. When traveling with children in Berlin, don't miss: Legoland, the television tower, the natural history museum and of course the graffiti and street art of the wall.

Pedaling along the Danube is one of the experiences that all cyclists should have, at least once in their life. So why not take the kids?
You can lose yourself in the green parks of Vienna, enjoy a slice of Sacher, have fun in Prater park and have even the little ones admire the elegant Viennese buildings.
Amboise is one of the main centers of the Loire Castles: the perfect area for traveling by bike with children. You can have fun doing the tour of the wonderful castles and immerse yourself in fairy-tale atmosphere, among flowering gardens and old-fashioned towns.
The Loire area is the perfect mix of nature, art and fun.
In the heart of Flanders, Bruges welcomes travelers looking for both a romantic holiday and a family holiday with its ancient atmospheres.
Bruges is perfect for discovering by bicycle and will also entertain the little ones, thanks to its chocolate tradition, the Minnewater (lake of love), the Graaf Visartpark playground and the iconic historic center.
For those who want instead a weekend by bike with the children in a Mediterranean destination, Valencia can turn out to be the ideal destination: a mild climate for most of the year, combined with contemporary architectures, beaches and a cuisine with unmistakable flavors.
Your children won't be able to do without the Bioparc and the City of Arts and Science.
Making cycling tourism in Europe is not the only way to experience a splendid family friendly holiday on two wheels! Ferrara for example is a perfect city for those who want to experience a weekend or a holiday based on nature, art and fun.
Considered the Italian Amsterdam, Ferrara is in all respects the city of bicycles: it only lacks canals. But you can find them by moving around the territory in the small and charming Comacchio overlooking the Po Delta.
In these flat areas, a bike vacation with children is ideal and you will have fun between beaches, birdwatching, tours in the Delta valleys and discovering the beautiful Ferrara.
