If you are a lover of bike trips, nature, and adrenaline, mountain biking is the ideal method for you. Mountain biking (MTB) routes allow you to discover landscapes of extreme beauty while practicing an exciting sport that tests your abilities.
If you already have experience riding your MTB and have traveled every possible track near your home, it's time to find out which Mountain biking (MTB) itineraries you can do in Italy, as well as in Europe, for an unforgettable vacation, either as a couple or with friends.

Who says you always have to go abroad to enjoy nature parks and adrenaline? Italy has numerous mountain biking routes that suit every level of experience.
Some of these you can also do with an e-MTB, in order to have support on the more difficult sections.
Along the ancient sheep tracks, you can today quench your thirst for exploration thanks to MTB itineraries that lead you to discover the landscapes and ancient villages of Abruzzo.
You can start from Navelli, famous for its plateau and saffron, and continue on the Tratturo Magno, which connected L'Aquila with Foggia. You can also reach the castle of Bominaco, and the Oratory of San Pellegrino by crossing the ancient paths of transhumance.
Sardinia is another ideal region for those who want to have a holiday dedicated to nature and sport. Its hinterland offers unique landscapes in the world and wild atmospheres that are rarely found in other areas of Europe.
The MTB routes in Sardinia are among the most exciting you can do, although they sometimes require a good level of experience.
One of the MTB itineraries not to be missed is certainly the route from Montevecchio to Nebida, in South Sardinia.
Along this route, you can discover the ancient mines of Sulcis, up to the crystal clear beaches of the Costa Verde and the Sugarloaf rock of Nebida.
Among the must-see stages are also the Piscinas dunes, a natural area known as the "little Italian Sahara".
The itinerary you find on Cyclando has a duration of 5 days, for 121 km and is recommended for expert cyclists.
Can you imagine anything more beautiful than a circular MTB route that takes you to discover the most amazing peaks of the Dolomites?
If you want to live an adventure, rather than a journey, the Dolomites MTB tour is definitely for you.
The departure is in Alta Pusteria in Toblach, then it continues towards Sesto, Sappada, Cadore, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Passo delle Tre Croci to then return to Alta Pusteria.
Between mountain huts and Alpine passes, the Dolomites MTB tour is the perfect solution for those who want to challenge themselves, without giving up moments of relaxation in nature.
The itinerary has a duration of 8 days, for 275 km and is recommended for expert cyclists.
The Piedmont Alps are often less frequented than the Dolomites, but they are not less interesting from a landscape point of view.
This is confirmed by the MTB itinerary that takes you to discover the Val Maira and the Gardetta plateau among the peaks of the Cottian Alps. You can enjoy a breathtaking view from the Sempeyre pass that dominates the Val Maira and the Varaita Valley.
The itinerary can also be covered with an e-MTB, it has a duration of 2 days for 90 km and is also recommended for cyclists with a medium level of experience.
Are you looking for ideas for your tours in Europe by MTB? There are many itineraries you can do especially in Central Europe, discovering mountain landscapes, forests, and untouched nature.
Austria is a paradise for cyclists, especially if you are looking for MTB routes suitable for all levels of experience.
If you're looking for a route that tests your abilities, you can't miss the Dachstein circuit, a 173 km ring with an elevation gain of 4600 meters: every mountain biker's dream.
From the 3000 meters of altitude of Mount Dachstein, you can visit the beautiful lake region of the Salzkammergut.
The itinerary has a duration of 4 days, for a total of 181 km, and is only recommended for expert cyclists.
Still in the Salzkammergut lake area, you can choose a slightly softer route, which can also be covered with an e-MTB and is also ideal for those who do not have a high level of experience.
If instead you want to immerse yourself always among the Alpine peaks and the beautiful lakes of Salzkammergut with a longer trip, you can choose the 6-day route that will take you to discover one of the most beautiful regions of Austria, also on an e-MTB.
A valid alternative to Austria for MTB lovers is Romania, with the peaks of the Carpathians: definitely less beaten, but no less interesting from a landscape point of view.
From Bucharest, to Dracula's Castle, you will discover Transylvania and the mountain villages at the foot of the Bucegi mountains.
The itinerary has a duration of 7 days, for 186 km.
If you are instead looking for a trip off the usual routes, not on the highest peaks of Europe, but closer to the Atlantic Ocean, the Algarve is the ideal destination.
Among eucalyptus forests, valleys, and wild beaches overlooking the Atlantic, you can cycle from Vila Real de Santo António to Odeceixe beach.
The itinerary has a duration of 8 days, for 251 km.
