Visiting cities in winter by bike with children: here's why it's a good idea!

Autumn and winter seem to be the seasons when the bike goes into the cellar to come out in spring. For lovers of outdoor life (whether in the countryside or in the city, it doesn't matter) two wheels remain a constant, so why not also take advantage of this season, equally fascinating, for short bike holidays, perhaps visiting a city?

The first reason is that in this way you combine business with pleasure: you do sports and have the opportunity to reach places in an alternative way; children have much more fun and are an active part of the journey. As a cycling mom, I can't help but propose a weekend in Rimini. "What? The Romagna coast in winter?" you will say. Exactly. This city, on a human scale, has a lot to offer to those who decide to pedal: endless cycle paths, flat plains without differences in height, mild temperatures in autumn days and a Roman city from a thousand and one nights. Including playgrounds and many green areas for children to play.

From Cervia to Riccione, perhaps with intermediate stages, it is possible to have your little ones pedal in complete safety offering them a varied landscape, from the marine to the inland one.

Pedaling inside and outside the walls, you discover all the beauty of Ferrara, from its architecture to its green lungs just a few steps away. In fact, not far from the city of lovers (one day to visit it is more than enough), you can move to Valeggio sul Mincio, 8 km from Peschiera del Garda to enjoy the famous Sigurtà natural park, delightful even in the colder months.

Staying always in the north, a fascinating location also for the little ones is Venice. Taking the children there is even better than taking them to a playground. The emotion is big. It is clear that here you will have to leave the bike for a few hours. Before arriving in the lagoon, however, you will cycle along the Sile river, and then discover Venice, the colorful houses on the islands, the calli and the canals. Obviously on foot.
