Maps
Together with the itinerary, you will receive a set of maps, created specifically for this trip. The maps present routes marked by specific colours. Extensions or detours are marked in a different colour. Each map presents only one marked route. There is always a red dotted line. Alternative routes or shorter variants are marked in different colours. If the route is long, there may be more than one map for a single route. Sections of the same map are identified by the name of the map and a (number) in brackets, which indicate the order of the maps for each walking route. Waypoints marked in the first column (WP) of the travel notes are also marked on the map, using a series of numbers that always start from 1. Italian topographic maps are not always of a high standard or up-to-date, so you may notice changes, such as roads and paths that are not marked on your map or have been paved. The IGM - Istituto Geografico Militare is the national institute responsible for producing maps in Italy. Markers painted on rocks or trees do not last long. Although signposts on routes are renewed regularly, it is sometimes difficult to see the markings - so it is important to pay close attention to your surroundings and route descriptions.
